EVOC Certification is awarded after successfully completing a specialized training course designed for EMS and Fire responders, equipping them with the essential skills for safely operating emergency vehicles within the state. This program goes beyond theory by combining classroom learning with practical exercises tailored to Florida's challenging road conditions. Not only does it meet strict state and national safety standards, but it also instills the confidence and capability needed to make critical, split-second decisions during emergencies.

Our EVOC training course covers a wide range of important topics—from regulatory and compliance topics in vehicle operations to advanced practices in route selection and emergency communication on calls. You’ll also study defensive driving skills, collision avoidance strategies, and advanced vehicle control, including pre-run safety inspections and preventive maintenance. We also cover controlled braking, safe backing, dynamic slalom practices, precision steering skills, and safe turn negotiation. 

In addition, our course also addresses some of the most prevalent issues on the road that other courses don't such as driving in bad weather, managing aggressive drivers, and diffusing road rage. These sessions allow you to remain calm and think on your feet even in the worst-case scenario. 

Getting your EVOC Certification has never been so simple. First, enroll online to gain 24/7 access to our self-paced learning modules—available one week before your in-person training. Study at your own pace, then attend your scheduled hands-on session to master emergency vehicle operation. After completing your training, you'll receive your official EVOC Certification, confirming you're fully prepared for the challenges of EMS driving in Florida. 

Absolutely. Our program is designed to allow you to complete a significant portion of your EVOC training online. Once you register, you are given access and can study the self-paced online modules anytime from anywhere in Florida. However, to complete your certification, you will need to attend our in-person driving training, which ensures you have the necessary practical skills for safe emergency vehicle operation within the state. You can find the available dates for our in-person sessions on our Course Schedule page.  After attending the in-person driving session you will be awarded your EVOC certification. 

Once you register for our in-person driving skills session, you'll gain secure, 24/7 access to our online learning materials starting one week before your hands-on training begins. Our comprehensive curriculum features high-quality video lessons, interactive quizzes, and detailed guides, all tailored to meet the unique demands of driving as an EMS professional in Florida. Whether you're in Miami, Broward, Palm Beach, or anywhere else in the state, you can study at your own pace and on your own schedule—ensuring you're fully prepared for the real-world challenges of emergency response. 

Yes, it is mandatory. Completing the online portion is a prerequisite for attending the in-person session. This step ensures that all participants have the necessary foundational knowledge before engaging in practical driving exercises. This requirement is critical for EVOC training and is required by the state of Florida to ensure safe and effective emergency vehicle operation in real-world conditions. 

To enroll in our EVOC Certification course, you must have a valid driver’s license and basic driving experience. These prerequisites ensure that you are ready to absorb the advanced training provided in our course. Without this baseline, the advanced skills taught in our course wouldn’t be as effective in preparing you for the complex challenges faced by EMS professionals on Florida’s roads. 

We understand that some organizations prefer a tailored, private training experience. If you’d like to host a private EVOC Certification or EVOC Instructor class, we’re here to help. Our private classes are fully customizable, focusing on your team’s specific needs while delivering a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience.

Please note: To host a certification course at your location, tuition is $139 per student with a minimum of 8 students. For an instructor course, tuition is $400 per student, also with a minimum of 8 students. 

Our instructor certification course is available to any qualified candidate who has successfully obtained their EVOC Certification through our EVOC program. While other programs typically limit who can become an instructor, we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds across the state, allowing you to elevate your skills and share your expertise without the need of a sponsorship letter from a department. We recommend that candidates have at least one full year of ambulance operation or equivalent experience to ensure they’re fully prepared to train others in the high-stakes environment of emergency vehicle operation.

Your EVOC Certification remains valid indefinitely—there's no expiration once you complete the program. However, some EMS agencies require periodic refresher training to ensure your skills stay up to date with evolving safety protocols and industry standards.
